General information

There are a number of playlists on our YouTube channel that give general information about DataSHIELD – why DataSHIELD is needed, what it is and how it works. We also have recordings of our webinars for new DataSHIELD users, and talks from our virtual conferences.

Deployment documentation

We have open documentation for all our infrastructure that is useful for data custodians wanting to deploy DataSHIELD, this includes documentation developed by established consortia using DataSHIELD. DataSHIELD infrastructure is modular, and flexible to be tailored for your infrastructure and data requirements. The documentation guides installation and management of DataSHIELD infrastructure for test or deployment purposes.

Join the community

The DataSHIELD community is open to all – whether you are a student, a new user, a developer, a data custodian or if you just have an interest in protecting patient privacy in health research. We run a weekly drop-in session for informal chat and signposting help, plus each theme (infrastructure, operational management, statistical development, governance, communications and education) runs its own regular meetings that are open to those wanting to contribute to the them.
